Thankful Thursday: "Supermen"

Poppa Hopper and Gdaddy.... these 2 are some SERIOUS "Supermen"...
Let me recount moving weekend:

Poppa Hopper:: taught/coached all week, coached a spring football game Friday night then loaded up and drove through the night, slept for 4 hours, helped load the moving truck/load the dogs, set up stuff, worked non-stop for 2 days, slept for 4 hours and drove home on Tuesday morning.... CRAZINESS

Gdaddy:: worked in KY all week, drove home to SC on Thursday, left Friday morning to drive to NC, painted and did miscellaneous last minute projects, loaded the moving truck like it was a tetris game, unloaded the truck, set up stuff, then got up Sunday morning to drive to SC to then drive to KY for the work week!

We are so blessed with incredibly supportive parents--With dads who put the young lads to shame when it comes to working and getting things done!

.GSO...the 336.

Welp, we have moved! We are now residents of Guilford County!
On Saturday morning we picked up the biggest UHaul they have and it was filled to the brim! Who knew we had so much stuff. Then there were 5 trucks packed down, along with a trailer... whew! I am pretty sure that once we got to GSO we set a record for unloading. So many of our friends came over and we knocked it out! Thats when i began swimming in boxes... As of this morning, there are only 3 boxes left to unpack and then all the decorations/pictures need to be hung! Home tour to come!
As I drove with the kiddos to GSO on Saturday it was almost surreal that it was really happening.. the dreaming, planning, gathering, fundraising, etc...it was all becoming a reality. I am so blessed to walk alongside Andrew in this journey that the Lord has called us to.
We have LOVED our first couple of days there....lots of time unpacking, playing, running all over the yard, target trips, walmart trips, and of course ice cream!
More to come soon!!!

.reading, reading, reading.

We have been blessed with kiddos that love to read and be read to! (excuse the mess and covered sofa in the background...oh the joys of moving!) The new favorite is a book they got at Christmas from the Collins Five... The family recorded themselves reading this book....its awesome! At the end HJ will say, "Erin and Michael and the boys read me that book!"

.thankful for an amazing sending church.

**This was on our Pastor's blog yesterday!** www.jdgreear.com

"Summit — This weekend God graced us to officially send out our Greensboro church planting team. This team (pictured below) consists of families and graduating students who are uprooting their lives from here in RDU to plant Mercy Hill Church in Greensboro, NC. This makes 140 members in 5 strategic church plants that we have sent out in the last 18 months. This is the one time we don’t mind “losing” our people! Praise God!
Mercy Hill team
Andrew Hopper, lead pastor of Mercy Hill, is as fine a preacher and leader as we have here on staff at the Summit. He has served in numerous capacities, including young professionals pastor and Brier Creek campus pastor. We will miss Anna and him. And, to make it official, we have always liked her better than him. Some say that we hired him just to have her around. I can neither confirm nor deny that.
Sending out our members to plant new churches is always bittersweet for us. Many of those pictured above were leaders–of small groups, of ministries, and even of our pastoral team. Many were personal friends. It is painful to see them go. We are committed to being a sending church, however, because:
  • We believe that the New Testament strategy for completing the Great Commission is to plant churches in strategic cities. There is still much work to be done in Raleigh-Durham, but our God is a sending God and each church should be involved, in some way, in the process of sending the gospel where it is not. God’s Kingdom advances through the multiplication of local churches in strategic cities around the world.
  • We measure our success by sending capacity as much as seating capacity. Jesus’ vision of the church was not a group of people gathered around one anointed leader, but multiple leaders going out in the power of the Spirit (John 14:12).
  • In order to send out church planting teams, we are willing to send out our best. It always scares us to send some of our most dedicated members and most gifted leaders, but another of our plumblines is that pushing out leaders creates more leaders.
Please pray in the coming weeks for this team: that they would gain strong connections with the city of Greensboro, particularly as many of them search for jobs; that they would have Spirit-arranged opportunities with unbelievers from day one; and that leaders would be raised up from the harvest there in Greensboro.
This is not a plant by a fringe subset of the Summit Church. This is “our” offspring. Let’s believe God with them for great things.

This is a book that HJ got for Easter, we have read it to her probably 10x and the other day, she picked it up and read it WORD for WORD! What in the world?!??! She didn't leave out any of the words! We asked her how she knew how to read it and she promptly replied, "I don't know?" haha... Love it! So here she is in her pj's on our covered couch(we are moving so things are craziness!) reading you the story.
